More Flexibility for Repeatable Regions

The Section Tool has always been a central part of smooster CMS because it allows you to duplicate regions of the site and to move or delete them more quickly right inside the website. With the improved Section Tool you can now not only duplicate blocks but also choose between different ones that you design yourself and combine them as you like.

Until now, the Section tool could only be used to reproduce existing regions that were always identical in structure. While building websites together with designers, we’ve learned a lot in the past months about how you guys use the Section Tool and what functions you would like to see added to it.

Based on this feedback, we’ve further developed the Section Tool to make it even better. The tool can be accessed, as usual, through the extra panel on the right side of the screen.

There, you can now choose between different regions that were previously implemented in the  CMS together with the other individual templates. After you’ve create the new block in a repeatable region, you can then use the Section Tool to move, duplicate or delete it as usual. Once you close the Section tool, you can edit the new area directly in the site.

The different repeatable regions are created simultaneously with the layout templates in HTML and CSS, and can be freely designed just like the rest of the site. If you want smooster to carry out the implementation, you can create the fields as usual in a graphic file (PSD, AI , ID). Just let us know what areas you would like to be able to variably insert via the Section Tool. We will then define them for you in the CMS.

Do you know HTML and CSS and want to implement websites with smooster yourself? In our documentation you can find out how you can create your own layout templates with repeatable regions.

The documentation is currently under construction.  A region on advanced features of the Section Tool will follow shortly. To find out directly when there are new entries in the documentation, follow us on Twitter!

Your feedback will help us to keep making smooster better. If you have an opinion about the new features, or if you have suggestions for other features, write us an e -mail or leave a comment on this article.
